Hillsborough Dad, Age 55, Dies After Battle With Brain Cancer
Ed Eick was diagnosed with glioblastoma 14 months ago while his daughter Adeline was also fighting her own battle against brain cancer.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — After his courageous 14-month fight against brain cancer, Hillsborough husband and father Ed Eick has died at the age of 55.
"Ed passed peacefully at home this morning, surrounded by family, while we held his hands and sang to him and told him how much we love him," said Eick's wife Christine on their Facebook page Adeline Prevails. "He fought so courageously after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer 14 months ago. He never wanted to give up and remained hopeful no matter what."
In October 2023, Eick was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is a type of cancer that starts as a growth of cells in the brain or spinal cord. It grows quickly and can invade and destroy healthy tissue, according mayoclinic.org.

"We are beyond heartbroken and it's hard to articulate the enormity of this loss. We know he was adored by so many people and had such a big heart and so much love to give," said Christine. "It's not fair and he was taken from us far too soon."
For almost four years, the Eick Family of Hillsborough has been dealing with a roller coaster of emotions. First, their daughter Adeline was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2021 and then Ed in 2023. Read More: Hillsborough 5-Year-Old And Dad Both Battling Brain Cancer Together

"Adeline was his hero and biggest inspiration," said Christine. "His memory will live on and inspire us forever. And hopefully give us the strength to keep going even though it feels impossible right now. Ed, we love you forever and ever."
Along with Adeline, Ed leaves behind his 21-month-old daughter Scarlett with Christine and two adult sons Tyler and Carson from his first marriage.
Adeline continues to undergo treatment. The family has a GoFundMe and social media pages set up where they would update everyone on Adeline and previously Ed on their treatment journeys.
