Hillsborough Democrats Endorse Wright, Koch In 2021 Election

Incumbent Jeffrey A. Wright, Sr. and attorney Roger E. Koch will run as the 2021 Democratic candidates for Township Committee.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Democratic Organization (HDO) have endorsed incumbent Township Committeeman Jeffrey A. Wright, Sr. and public interest attorney Roger E. Koch to run as the 2021 Democratic candidates for Hillsborough Township Committee.

Bill Dondiego, Chairman of the Hillsborough Democratic Organization, said of the candidates, "They share a commitment to fiscal responsibility and accountability, infrastructure improvements, ethical government, and, so important, the health and safety of our community as we emerge from the pandemic."

Wright grew up in Piscataway and moved to Hillsborough in 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Science, in General Business/Finance from Norfolk State University in Virginia.

He currently works for Garden State Securities, Inc., as an Investment Adviser Representative and Financial Adviser. Previously he worked for Merrill Lynch in those capacities. He holds Series 7 (General Securities Representative), 63 (Uniform Securities Agent), and 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser) designations and a New Jersey State Life Insurance license. Jeff is married to Jennifer
and has four children.

Wright was appointed to the Hillsborough Township Committee in March 2021 to fill an unexpired term. He has served on the Somerset County Planning Board, and previously served on Piscataway's Zoning Board of Adjustment, Open Space Committee, and Senior Citizens Committee. He coached Little League Baseball.

Wright is a Master Mason/Member of the Society of Free and Accepted Masons of New Jersey – Alpha Lodge 116. He serves as Treasurer of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Wright and his wife are both elected members of the Democratic Municipal Committee and Somerset County Democratic Committee in District 9 (Country Classics).

With Roger's legal background and my finance background, we can provide knowledgeable and thoughtful representation for our town. We look forward to working hard and getting important things done," said Wright.

Koch, a lifelong Jersey guy, grew up in Hillside and attended college at Rutgers Newark and Rutgers New Brunswick. He attended Seton Hall University Law School at night while working full-time during the day for the State of New Jersey. After graduation with honors, he served as a public interest attorney for the NJ Attorney General’s office as a Deputy Attorney General. He prosecuted civil violations of the NJ Consumer Fraud Act, protecting consumers defrauded by large retail stores and car dealerships. He also defended state agencies, municipalities, and employees under the Tort Claims Act.

In private practice since 2002, with an office located in Somerville, Koch continues to serve people harmed by the wrongful conduct of others, including consumers defrauded by home improvement contractors or auto repair shops, employees cheated out of fair wages, and citizens harmed by defective products. Mr. Koch is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Koch, who has lived in Hillsborough for 20 years with his wife Amy Levine, currently serves as Vice President of the Condominium Association of the Glen development, where he has been a member of the Governing Board of Directors for approximately 10 years.

"I am excited and grateful to have this opportunity. I became a lawyer to use my competitive spirit to advocate for those who are treated unfairly. I believe my skills, experience, and passion will make a difference to township residents. I want to champion their interests through my service on the Township Committee as I have for my clients as a lawyer. I want to be their voice," said Koch.
