Dukes Pee Wee Football

Sunday afternoon the Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee football team travelled to Ralston Field to open their season against the Hamilton Revolution, an out of conference opponent that regularly wins championships in one of the largest Pop Warner conferences in the country. Despite being undersized and outnumbered, the Dukes squad battled to a 6-0 victory behind impressive defensive performances by Luke Scott, Justin LeBron, Brady Post and rookie sensation Jackson Roberts. Just before halftime, quarterback Jack Moran connected with Jack O’Donnell for a 62 yard touchdown pass. Those would be the only points of the afternoon as the Dukes defense withstood a ground and aerial attack by the Revolution, including a red zone defensive stand late in the fourth quarter. “I couldn’t be happier with how our boys played today,” said head coach Mike Spinelli after the game. “We have some things to clean up on both sides of the ball but special teams performed well and our defense flew around and kept us in the game all afternoon.” The Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee team will take the weekend off before traveling again on September 10th to take on the Franklin Township Pop Warner Warriors at Middlebush Park in Somerset, New Jersey.
