Dukes Pee Wee Football
Sunday afternoon the Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee football team improved their record to 2-0 with a win over the Flemington Falcons at Hunterdon Central High School.
The Dukes defensive bulwark, led by veterans Luke Scott, Justin LeBron, Ryan Vandermeer and Jack O’Donnell, notched their second shutout in as many games with Julian Brunelle and JB McCrea also playing key roles.
Offensively, the Dukes launched an assault early in the first quarter that culminated in 10 yard touchdown run by Jack Moran. In the second quarter, Moran would find Jack O’Donnell in the back corner of the endzone for a 20 yard pass that gave the Dukes a 12-0 lead going into halftime. The always hard-charging Chris Spinelli tacked on another touchdown with a punishing 7 yard run midway through the third quarter, and rookie sensation Jackson Roberts also had several impressive carries during the second half.
While the Dukes defense featured prominently, Brady Post was the MVP of the day as he manhandled and pancaked tenacious Falcon defenders and led the offensive line to a dominating performance. The road-weary Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee team will travel on September 17th to take on the Golden Saints before finding their way back home the weekend of September 24th as part of the Dukes 50th anniversary festivities.
