HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Education Association has announced its endorsement of Allison Laning-Beder for Hillsborough Board of Education.

Laning-Beder, along with three other Hillsborough BOE candidates, went through a screening by the HEA composed of seven members.

Each candidate attended a live interview via Zoom to discuss their individual platform and vision for Hillsborough Township Public Schools. They were also asked questions by the HEA's screening committee, which was chaired by Bob Fenster, HEA parliamentarian and HHS social studies teacher.

Following the screening, Laning-Beder was endorsed.

"After carefully reviewing all the information, the committee felt Allison Laning-Beder alone deserved our endorsement," Fenster said. "We believe she understands education from a variety of perspectives being a parent, a former educator, and a taxpayer. Her priorities include the physical well-being and mental health of students, faculty, and staff, increasing transparency and communication from the Board of Education, and working to ease the overcrowding in the district's schools."

"We are proud to support a Board candidate who supports Hillsborough students and schools," said HEA President Henry Goodhue. "There are considerable challenges facing our district and electing a candidate who is focused on true collaboration will ensure the success of our schools, as well as our entire community. We look forward to electing the candidate who is committed to embracing a cooperative approach that will deliver the 'Best for BORO' for our students and staff."

Along with Laning-Beder three other candidates are running for the three, three-year seats on the board. The candidates include Jason R. Albanese, Krzysztof Golas, and Elaine Jackson.

Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
