Hillsborough Fire Victims Seek Help After Losing Home, Belongings

The renters said clothes, electronics and furniture were destroyed in the Hillsborough fire on Tuesday.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Two renters displaced by a condo building fire in Hillsborough are asking the community for help after, they said, they lost most of their belongings and can no longer live in their unit.

Brandon Quiros said he and his roommate lived in Unit 1004 and were affected by the second-alarm fire on Tuesday at 1004 Victoria Court, according to the GoFundMe fundraising website.

"As renters in Unit 1004, my roommate and I lost most of our belongings and our home was deemed uninhabitable,"
Quiros wrote. "Clothes, electronics, and furniture were destroyed, and we are now facing the difficult process of picking up what little we have left and finding a new place to live."

Quiros said they are now trying to recover while also securing temporary housing and making plans to move.

Any donated funds would go toward temporary housing, replacing essentials and moving expenses, according to the fundraiser.

"We never imagined we would be in this situation, but we are reaching out to our community for help," Quiros wrote.

The renters are asking for monetary donations, gift cards, clothes, and household items.
