Hillsborough Firefighter Who Died In Line Of Duty To Be Remembered

Hillsborough Fire Company #2 Assistant Chief William "Billy" Shaffer died three years ago on July 14.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Station 37 firefighters will be gathering on July 14 to honor the memory of Assistant Chief William "Billy" Shaffer, who died in the line of duty three years ago.

Shaffer died while battling a car fire on July 14, 2021, on Camplain Road. Right after putting out the fire, Shaffer suffered a medical emergency. Read More: Hillsborough Firefighter Dies In Line Of Duty

Services will start at 5 p.m. on July 14 at Station 37 at 375 Route 206 in Hillsborough. The memorial is open to the public and any emergency services.

Attending emergency service agencies are asked to wear department dress uniform or equivalent.

Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
