Hillsborough firefighters extinguished a car fire following a crash on Route 206 in the township on Wednesday.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough firefighters extinguished a car fire following a crash on Route 206 in the township on Wednesday.

At around 1:51 p.m. on Feb. 6, Hillsborough Fire Stations 36 and 37 were called to the area of Route 206 and Park Avenue for the reported motor vehicle crash with the car on fire and occupant entrapped, according to Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough.

The fire was found not to be on fire and the driver was inside the car but not trapped, fire marshals reported.

While firefighters worked to secure power to the vehicle, fire was noticed coming from underneath it. The driver was removed and firefighters extinguished the fire, according to Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough.

Due to a fuel leak, a foam was applied to the area to suppress fuel vapors, the department said.
