With a 4-5 regular season mark, the Hillsborough football team squeaked into the Central Jersey Group 4 playoffs, earning the No. 8 seed and a first round meeting at first seed South Brunswick (8-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Hillsborough will have its work cut out for them in this tough first round matchup against South Brunswick- ranked No. 7 in The Star-Ledger Top 20 teams in New Jersey- and will need to rely heavily on a defense that has had its struggles throughout regular season.
On it’s way to 8-0, the South Brunswick offense has been impressive, scoring 27 points or more in seven of those wins, while the Hillsborough offense has a 23 point per game average in 2011.

If Hillsborough advances past South Brunswick, they’ll get set to face the winner of Jackson (4) vs. Sayreville (5) in round two.
