Hillsborough Girl Scouts Show Their Support for Cancer Patients
Hillsborough students helping our community

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Love for our community was on full display last Sunday at Harold Docherty Park, where more than 100 Hillsborough Girl Scouts came together for a special event supporting cancer patients who are currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Girl Scouts from every troop in town participated in the heartwarming community service project by bringing chemotherapy care bags filled with thoughtful treats and comfort items, including tissues and candy, to bring a little extra encouragement to patients undergoing cancer treatment. The Girl Scouts also painted pumpkins pink in support of breast cancer awareness month. All bags and pumpkins were donated to The Steeplechase Cancer Center in Somerville and Astera Cancer Care facilities in Bridgewater and East Brunswick.
Middle school-aged Girl Scouts stepped up to help guide and assist the younger girls, making the event a wonderful example of teamwork, leadership, and compassion across age groups.

The event was made possible by the numerous Girl Scout parent volunteers who organized and led the activities, including Girl Scout Service Unit 72 team members, Nicole Beniamini, Jennifer Bordieri, and Brittany Sudah, as well as Hillsboro Farm, who provided the pumpkins at a discounted price.
Through these simple but meaningful acts of kindness, Hillsborough's Girl Scouts showed that even young people can make a difference in the lives of others. Their efforts brought together families, volunteers, and Girl Scouts of all ages for a shared purpose: letting cancer patients know that their community cares.
