HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township has officially switched over to using SwiftReach 911 as its official emergency notification system.

The township had been using Nixle prior to March 1 but entered into an agreement with Swift Reach 911 later last year.

“A review committee met with the three respondents to the request for quotes and it was determined the SwiftReach 911 met the requirements that the Township was looking for,” stated Hillsborough Committeeman Frank DelCore.

The previous contract with Honeywell expired at the end of 2016 and Nixle, which historically was a free
service for police notifications, had informed the Township that they would be migrating to a paid service.

“The functionality of SwiftReach 911, ease of use and and overall flexibility, along with a favorable cost
component, led to the decision to contract with them,” added Hillsborough Police Chief Darren Powell. “It is important to note that effective March 1st the Township will no longer utilize the Nixle system for
any alerts or notifications."
