Hillsborough Howl-O-Ween Canceled Due To Expected Weather

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township's Howl-O-Ween has been canceled due to the anticipated rainy weather on Saturday.

The township sent out an announcement on the cancelation on Friday afternoon. The status of the township's Trunk or Treat event is still undecided.

"For all individuals & groups registered, you will receive an email prior to Saturday morning at 9 a.m. regarding the event's status. This event required preregistration and is currently sold out," said the township.

Halloween weekend will have a rainy start on Friday as the second storm to move through New Jersey this week is expected to bring strong wind gusts up to 60 mph with potential for coastal flooding, forecasters said. Read More: Halloween Weekend Storm In NJ: See Latest Timing, Impacts

A period of heavy rain is possible as early as this afternoon, spreading between 0.5 to 2 inches of rain across the state, with locally higher amounts of 2 to 3 inches possible, the service said.

Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in creeks, streams and areas with poor drainage after this week's recent storm, the National Weather Service said on Friday.
