Hillsborough HS Students Awarded VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post 8371 announced the recognition of Yashmee Yatham and Dean Milano for their outstanding achievements in the 2024 VFW Voice of Democracy (VOD) Scholarship Program held at Hillsborough High School.

The awards ceremony occurred on Jan. 13, celebrating these students’ exemplary contributions and commitment.

Yashmee and Dean received certificates of achievement and monetary awards for their hard work and talent.

The VFW VOD Scholarship Program offers students the chance to express their views on democracy, associated with the 2024 theme, "Is America Today Our Forefathers' Vision?" These young scholars displayed remarkable insight and creativity.

Key figures from the school and community attended the ceremony, enhancing this celebration of academic excellence.

Hillsborough High School Principal Jeffery DiLollo praised the students for their dedication and commitment. Patricia Jackson, Principal LiLollo's adjutant at HHS, was also present to show her support for the program and the student's success.

Additionally, the ceremony was attended by faculty members who have played an integral role in mentoring these students.

Notably, Kelly Hamer, Yashmee's mentor, praised her student's enthusiasm and passion. Representing Dean's family, Roberta Milano and her younger son Devin, a freshman at HHS, were proud to support Dean in his achievement.
