Hillsborough Jazz Musicians To Perform At RVCC

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough locals are among Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble to perform in concert Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

Hillsborough Jazz Ensemble members include Mason L. Shepherd Jr., Jon Loree, and Chris Loree.

The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Count Basie, Pat Metheny, Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Charles Mingus and Wes Montgomery. The group also will perform music from the great American songbook featuring music by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Kurt Weill and Wilbur Schwandt. The highlight of these performances will feature spontaneous improvisations by student musicians.
