Hillsborough Job Openings Include 2 In Police Department

Jobs include full-time Police Department Clerk, full-time Police Officer, and part-time Building Maintenance Person.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township has three job openings including two in the police department.

POLICE DEPARTMENT CLERK – FULL-TIME – Hillsborough Township, Somerset County – The Township of Hillsborough is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of full-time Police Department Clerk
Typical Tasks:

  • Perform various record keeping functions
  • Maintain confidential records and files
  • Prepares contested cases for the Municipal Court, coordinates with Court Clerk, Municipal Prosecutor, Defendant’s and other interested parties in preparation and discovery
  • Files police reports
  • Compiles statistical data
  • Processes and logs arrest records
  • Maintains various financial records

  • This position requires, at the minimum, formal education of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic record keeping and computer skills; some knowledge of accounting principles and practices

[Applicant must possess a New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification or presently attending an NJPTC Certified Academy. SLEO class II certifications are not applicable.]

  • Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license at time of appointment

BUILDING MAINTENANCE PERSON – Part-Time – Weekends

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE performing routine work involved in the GENERAL MAINTENANCE of the Township’s public buildings, required to make minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings.
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A VALID NEW JERSEY DRIVERS LICENSE AND A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.
General Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Repairing doors, locks, hinges and windows as needed.
  2. Performing minor patching, glazing, painting and caulking.
  3. Maintaining walk areas by sweeping, shovel and clearing.
  4. Repairing and replacing light fixtures, outlets, fuses, plugs, and cords.
  5. Removing trash and completing other custodial work.
  6. Moving tables, chairs, equipment and other items.
  7. General plumbing repairs and maintenance

Requirements:
Said employee shall be proficient in the reading and writing of the English language in order to ensure complete communication by and between the personnel in the various departments and Department Supervisors. At least one year of experience in the maintenance and repair of building facilities.

  1. At least one years experience in building maintenance.
  2. A valid NJ driver’s license.
  3. Knowledge of proper procedures used in making routine repairs and skillful use of tools and equipment.
  4. Possess the ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions; to learn quickly from oral and written demonstration; to work harmoniously with others; to work for long periods in emergency situations and remain on the job until all repairs have been made; and to operate and skillfully use other specialized tools and equipment.
  5. Good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others
  6. Required to pass a drug screening and a Functional Capacity Evaluation.
