Hillsborough Local Among Those Arrested For DWI In Princeton

A Morgan Place home was also burglarized where someone entered their home and stole a checkbook, Princeton Police report.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Hillsborough local was among two to be arrested for driving while intoxicated in Princeton, police report.

On March 30 at 11:20 p.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on State Road for maintenance of lamps, speeding, and failing to maintain lane, the driver, Candida Leonard, 39, of Hillsborough was found to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Leonard was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where she was processed and ultimately released to a family member. Leonard was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated.

On March 27 at 1:30 p.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Nassau Street for using a hand held device while driving, the driver, Shady Saad, 20, of Princeton was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana. Saad was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he was processed and later released on his own recognizance with several summonses including possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS) and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.

On March 28 at 8:55 a.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Stockton Street for a suspended driver that was elicited by a license plate hit, the driver, Jennifer Zelaya, 25, of Hamilton proved to be driving while suspended. Zelaya was also found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana. Zelaya was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where she was processed and later released on her own recognizance with several summonses including possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS), possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended.

On March 29 at 3:30 p.m.: A 300 block of North Harrison Street owner reported that on March 25 at 5:50 p.m., a man entered their business and returned $1,278.99 worth of merchandise that was purchased on March 24 at a different store location. The man was given that amount refunded to him on a gift card. The man then purchased$1,400.31 worth of merchandise with five separate gift cards before leaving the store. On March 26, the business’ corporate office advised them that all of the gift cards that the man had used were fraudulent. The suspect is described by the witness as an "Indian or Pakistani" man with facial hair and of average height and weight.

On March 29 at 7:43 p.m.: A Morgan Place resident reported that sometime between 3 p.m. on March 24 and 11 a.m. on March 25, someone entered their home and stole a checkbook. No unauthorized checks were written against the account and the account number was changed to prevent a monetary loss.

On March 30 at 2:24 p.m.: A Hulfish Street owner reported they observed a juvenile female conceal merchandise from their business. The female then left the store with the merchandise and was confronted by the complainant outside. The female then returned the merchandise. Patrols responded to the scene and detained the female, age 16, only until her parents arrived a short time later. A Juvenile Complaint is pending.

On March 30 at 3 p.m.: A Hulfish Street owner reported that an unknown female shoplifted multiple items from their business totaling $239.95. The complainant indicated that the female concealed the items in her purse before departing the store. The suspect is described as about 60 years old with long blonde hair, medium build and eyeglasses.

On March 31 at 2:28 a.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of Witherspoon Street for failure to keep right, the driver, Javier Aparisio-Torralba, 35, of Princeton was found to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Aparisio-Torralba was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he was processed and ultimately released to a friend. Aparisio-Torralba was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated.
