Hillsborough Local Publishes Humor Book
Patrick Lombardi's book, Junk Sale, is a series of humorous stories pulled from his experiences of being a journalist and photographer.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Long-time Hillsborough native, Patrick Lombardi, has always made a career out of writing. Now he is combining his career with his love of comedy to publish his first book called Junk Sale.
In the book, there are 16 short stories and nonfiction essays that Lombardi pulled from his experiences working as a local journalist and photographer. Over the years, he met interesting characters, worked in dynamic settings, and chronicled all the different sides of the Garden State.
A fan of comedian David Sedaris, Lombardi used him as an inspiration to put together his humorous stories and publish the book on Aug. 7.

“The stories themselves examine a number of different subjects such as everyday aspects that are made interesting by an unusual character and experiences,” Lombardi said. “While others depict uncommon or outlandish situations humorously.”
One short story follows a very, very odd character on a plan and his fear of flying. Other stories include a character at a mundane job; a man finding love while committing burglary; a fresh college graduate does his best not to get hired; and a bitter server verbally abuses his guests.
Junk Sale, which Lombardi designed the cover, is available for purchase in paperback and ebook editions on Amazon.com and through several private vendors.
“I am hoping whoever reads it gets a kick out of it and some laughs and I will be happy,” Lombardi said.
