Hillsborough Man Charged In Connection With Groping Of Rutgers Students

Two female students said they were inappropriately touched by a man on Monday night, Rutgers Police said.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Hillsborough man was charged with criminal sexual contact after two women reported being groped on Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick.

Crystaljay Ecot, 29, of Hillsborough Township was arrested on Tuesday without incident and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, announced Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone on Wednesday.

The first woman said she was groped at around 11:20 p.m. Monday on College Avenue between Seminary Place and Hamilton Street, and the second woman said she was groped a short time later, at 11:45 p.m. near Hamilton Street and Easton Avenue.

Both women said an unknown man touched them in an intimate area while running past them. He then ran off.

Ecot was identified as the unknown man following an investigation led by Detective Sean Freeman of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, along with the help of the Rutgers Police Department.
