Hillsborough Man Defrauded Employer Of $1.1 Million: US Attorney
Ovais Mayet, 33, of Hillsborough, pleaded guilty to wire fraud after using his employer's account to buy high-end electronic devices: Police
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Hillsborough man pleaded guilty Wednesday to defrauding his employer of $1.1 million worth of high-end electronic devices, said acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig.
Ovais Mayet, 33, of Hillsborough worked as a biological engineer with a biopharmaceutical company in Summit.
Mayet was allowed to buy materials and equipment for work-related purposes but instead, between January 2019 and March 2020, he used the employer’s account to buy a large amount of high-end electronic devices that were not related to his work, according to documents filed in this case and statements made in court.
