Hillsborough Man Had Heroin, Syringe In Raritan: Police

RARITAN, NJ — A Hillsborough man was arrested for possession of herion, wax folds and a hypodermic syringe following a traffic stop on Route 206 in Raritan.
Ronnie Shertel, 34, was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringe on Nov. 16.
During the motor vehicle stop, police learned Shertel had a warrant for his arrest out of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department for drug distribution, Raritan Police report.

After Shertel was arrested, a search of his belongings and vehicle found 20 wax folds of heroin, numerous empty wax folds and a hypodermic syringe, police report.
Shertel was turned over to members of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department following processing. Officer Benjamin Griffin investigated.

On Nov. 14: Kevin Sheridan, 24, of Hillsborough was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were dispatched to Bagelicious on East Somerset Street for a man sleeping in his vehicle. On Nov. 16: A 52-year-old Raritan man was arrested for assault as a result of a domestic violence incident that occurred at a Thompson Street residence. The male, who cannot be identified due to domestic violence guidelines, struck his girlfriend in the face during an argument. The man was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. Officer Kathleen Sausa investigated.
On Nov. 16: Tyrik Byrd, 41, of Raritan was arrested for theft after he stole a cell phone from a male victim who was walking on Thompson Street. Byrd had asked the victim to borrow his phone and ran away from the area after taking possession of phone. Byrd was located by Raritan Police at the Dollar Tree and placed under arrest. Byrd was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. Sgt. James Raniere and Detective Christopher Wren investigated.
On Nov. 18: Salaam Jackson, 20, of Boonton was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) following a motor vehicle stop on Route 28. Jackson was released pending a court date. Sgt. Thomas Fisher investigated.
On Nov. 18: Tahmeen Street, 22, who is homeless, was issued a summons after police received a complaint of him sleeping in the vestibule of the River Park Apartment Complex. Street was given notice to appear in court on a later date. Officer Damien Chromowsky investigated.
On Nov. 20: Jason Isherwood, 35, of Staten Island was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on Fifth Street. Isherwood was released pending a court date. Sgt. Everett Holt investigated.
