Hillsborough Man Killed By Falling Tree During Cutting Accident
Frank Abate Jr., 68, was helping to cut a tree on his property Sunday when the tree fell on him, police said.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Hillsborough homeowner was killed by a falling tree while he was helping to cut it down Sunday morning, police reported.
Frank Abate Jr., 68, was helping to cut a tree on his property when the tree began to fall as he was moving away, said police.
The falling tree hit Abate Jr. in the head, causing a traumatic head injury, police said.

A 911 call reported the accident at 11:32 a.m. Hillsborough Township police went to 786 Riverside Drive and found Abate Jr. unresponsive in the driveway.
Police began life-saving measures, police said, but Abate Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Hillsborough Township Police Department.
