Hillsborough Man Severely Burned Making Homemade Fireworks: Police

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Somerset County man was severely burned last weekend when chemicals he was mixing to make homemade fireworks exploded, according to police.

Hillsborough police were called to a home on Three Bridges Road shortly before 4 a.m. after the man suffered second-degree burns on his arm.

According to police, the man was mixing chemicals while assembling homemade fireworks, which led to an explosion.

The man refused medical attention and remains in stable condition, police said. The home was deemed habitable by responding authorities.

The incident remains under investigation.
