Hillsborough Marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month With Teal Ribbon Ceremony
Mayor Catherine Payne presented a township proclamation during a teal ribbon event at the municipal building.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Mayor Catherine Payne joined township staff, members of the Hillsborough Police Department, Susyn Timko and Jim Finkel at the municipal building on Wednesday to tie teal ribbons in observance of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
During the gathering, Payne presented Timko and Finkel with a township proclamation officially designating September 2026 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Hillsborough.
The recognition placed the township’s observance alongside a broader effort to raise awareness about a disease that continues to affect families across the country.

Ovarian cancer remains a deeply impactful disease.
The American Cancer Society estimates there will be more than 20,000 new diagnoses and more than 12,000 deaths in the United States this year.

Early detection is the best defense. The Township also says raising awareness about key risk factors, including age and family history, is important for women and for the loved ones who support them.
