Hillsborough, Montgomery Primary Election Results 2017
Here is a look at how the townships voted in the primary Tuesday.

HILLSBOROUGH/MONTGOMERY, NJ — The New Jersey primaries on Tuesday had a pretty low voter turnout with only about 14 percent showing up to the polls in Somerset County.
A total of 32,706 ballots were cast out of the 220,401 registered voters in Somerset County. Here is a look at the vote totals. The numbers were provided by the Somerset County Clerk's Office.
Locally in Hillsborough Township there are two - 3 year seats up for grab. The primaries were uncontested with two republicans and two democrats vying for a spot.

Vote totals for Hillsborough municipal candidates:
- Gloria McCauley, Rep - 1,643
- Doug Tomson, Rep - 1,639
- Jane M. Staats, Dem - 1,646
- Harrison J. Burke, Dem - 1,622
In Montgomery Township Borough there is one - 3 year seat up for grabs, which was uncontested in the primary election.

Vote totals for Montgomery municipal candidates:
- Rich Smith, Rep - 586
- Sadaf F. Jaffer, Dem - 1,025
On the county level there are two-three year term seats open for freeholder and one-five year term open for county clerk. Both are uncontested in the primaries.

Freeholder – Two - 3 year term
- Brian D. Levine, Rep - 10,924
- Brian Gallagher, Rep - 10,994
- Shanel Robinson, Dem - 14,221
- Alex Avellan, Dem - 13,960
County Clerk – One – 5 year term
- Brett A. Radi, Rep - 11,208
- Steve Peter, Dem - 14,254
