Hillsborough Music Teacher Gets 82 Months In Jail For Child Porn

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A music teacher from Hillsborough, who performs for children at synagogues, Jewish community centers, camps and conventions nationwide was sentenced Tuesday to 82 months in prison for receiving images of child sexual abuse, authorities said

Eric S. Komar, 47, of Hillsborough and songwriter previously pleaded guilty to information charging him with one count of receiving child pornography, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Komar had previously admitted to law enforcement officers that he has "a large library of child pornography, which he estimates includes thousands of images and videos." He also admitted, "he masturbates to images of child pornography on a daily basis," according to the criminal complaint. Between April and September 2017, Komar used an internet based peer-to-peer file-sharing program to get the images and videos that included images of prepubescent children being sexually abused as well as sadistic and masochistic images, according to documents filed in this case and statements made in court.

Komar also admitted to law enforcement that he had become sexually aroused by a child in his presence on more than one occasion, according to the report.

Some of images recovered are described as young prepubescent girls sitting or kneeling on a pink blanket or bedding wearing lingerie and flower clips in their hair with their genitals exposed, according to the criminal complaint.

In addition to the prison term, Komar was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and ordered that he register as a sex offender.
