HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Republican Committee selected a new candidate to run in the primary election this June.

Hillsborough resident Dr. Robert Britting of Michelle Lane has an understanding of government and private sector experience due to his experience serving on the Sustainable Hillsborough Steering Commission, Hillsborough Environmental Commission, and the Hillsborough Board of Adjustment, according to the Republican committee release.

"Hillsborough Township is lucky to have a strong, proven leader like Bob Britting running for office this year," said Hillsborough Republican Chairman and Former Hillsborough Mayor and County Freeholder Ken Scherer. "Bob is a business leader that brings an expertise with handling large budgets and management to the table."

"I’m honored to receive my party’s endorsement," Britting said. "Hillsborough has evolved over the past few years and the decisions we make now will greatly impact our future. As a husband, father, soccer and baseball coach of three young children my family has made a commitment to this community and we absolutely love our town."

Britting was selected after longtime committeeman Frank DelCore declined to seek reelection after serving 15 years on the township committee.

"Bob is exactly the candidate Hillsborough needs to continue the hard work and fiscal responsibility that the community expects from our Republican-led township committee," said DelCore. "Although I will miss representing our town, I know handing over the Fiscal Watchdog title to Bob will keep us in good hands for years to come."
