Hillsborough Resident Escapes Fire In Home
A Hillsborough resident is displaced after a fire broke out in the second floor bedroom early Thursday morning.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Hillsborough resident escaped and is now displaced after his home caught on fire early Thursday morning.
Hillsborough emergency officials responded to the fire at 102 Everett Close at 1:16 a.m. where they found smoke coming from the second floor, Hillsborough Police report.
The homeowner Charles McGinnis Jr., 64, had already escaped the home before police arrived.

Firefighters put out the fire, but a second floor bedroom was damaged and the home was deemed uninhabitable, police report.
The fire does not appear to be suspicious, but is still under investigation by Hillsborough Police and Hillsborough Fire Safety Bureau.

There were no injuries reported.
Responding agencies included: Hillsborough Fire Stations 36, 37, 38; Hillsborough Office of Emergency Management; Hillsborough Building Department, Robert Wood Johnson Somerset BLS and fire companies from Neshanic, Millstone and Somerville.
