Hillsborough Resident Lends a Helping Hand

A local resident organized a collection to make a young woman and her children's house feel like a home.

A local Hillsborough resident, Didier Jimenez, organized donations to help make a home for a woman and her two young children moving into a local apartment from previously living in a homeless shelter.

Jimenez posted a request to a Hillsborough Facebook page asking for any sort of donation to make the empty apartment feel like a home. The response was overwhelming and many Hillsborough residents were able to offer items such as bed sets, dishes, lamps, pots, kitchen tables, chairs, toiletries, kitchen supplies, flashlights, fire extinguishers, blankets, new toys and books for the children, gift cards to Kohl’s and ShopRite, etc, etc. With the amount of donations he received, Jimenez made over four trips to the new apartment using trucks he borrowed from his dad and mom’s boyfriend.

Seeing Jimenez’s continuous efforts to help others through many organizations such as Make A Wish, Wild Life Conservation Society, Autism Speaks, Partners in Caring, and other local charities. Even when working at a shelter full time in addition to part-time at ShopRite employee, Jimenez always makes time to help those less fortunate than himself. Emily Benadon, another Hillsborough resident commented, “Didier is an example of what is wonderful about the Hillsborough community, he is one of the reasons I am proud to live in Hillsborough.”
