Hillsborough Rotary Club Donates Playground Sensory Boards
Ciccarelli and the Township Committee recognized the Rotary Club in a proclamation for their ongoing efforts in helping the community.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Rotary Club of Hillsborough donated two playground "sensory boards" for the universal playground in Ann Van Middlesworth Park.
"This contribution is part of our ongoing multi-year commitment to enhancing the playground and reflects our broader dedication to supporting individuals with developmental and learning disabilities in our community," said Rotary President Rohda Amini at the March 25 Township Committee meeting. "We believe in the transformative power of service to strengthen communities, promote wellbeing, and create safe, inclusive spaces where children can learn, grow, and thrive."
The sensory boards enhance engagement and communication opportunities for children with special needs.

Ann Van Middlesworth Park holds the first inclusive playground in Somerset County, a project spearheaded in 2010 by former Mayor and current Township Administrator, Anthony Ferrera. The goal was to construct a playground for children with and without special needs without taxpayer funding.
"No matter what we need here in town for the special needs community the Hillsborough Rotary has always been there from the beginning of time," said Ferrera.
"Service to our community is central to the mission of Rotary,” said Amini. "We always welcome requests for volunteer and philanthropic support from our Hillsborough neighbors."
With "service above self" as their motto, the Rotary Club of Hillsborough also provides 10 $2,500 post-secondary scholarships to Hillsborough residents and financial and volunteer support to veterans and active military.
