Hillsborough Schools Among The Best In NJ District Rankings

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Township School District was among the top-ranked districts in New Jersey for the 2020-21 school year, according to Niche's 2021 K-12 rankings.

The district was ranked 44th best in New Jersey and 5th best in Somerset County.

Montgomery Township School District also made the list. The district was also ranked 10th best in New Jersey and 94th best in the nation.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

Here is a breakdown of Hillsborough Township's scores:

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Hillsborough has 7,489 students in grades PK, K-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. A total of 69 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 76 percent in reading, according to state test scores reported by Niche.

"Hillsborough Township Public Schools is a great district with great competitive academics which open doors to an immense amount of opportunity. I look forward to watching its development as a school district in the years to come," said a Hillsborough High School senior.

"Small town feel in a big town! Something for everyone...tons of clubs, sports, music, and school spirit," said another high school senior.
