Hillsborough Schools Drug, Alcohol Cases Rank Highest In County
Hillsborough Township had the highest number of in cases in Somerset County, which more than doubled its total from last year.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township school district ranked the highest in Somerset County and among the highest in New Jersey for substance abuse cases reported for the 2017-18 school year.
New Jersey has released its annual list of substance-abuse cases reported by each school district, revealing the most recent data of reported cases.

There were 53 such cases reported in Hillsborough Schools for the 2017-18 school year, according to numbers released by the state Department of Education recently. This is more than triple the number reported in the 2016-17 school year, which saw 17 cases.
Hillsborough ranked the highest in Somerset County and at number 11 overall in the entire state. Versus last year where Hillsborough was the fourth highest in Somerset County and number 52 in the state.

The state Department of Education has cautioned that these numbers are reported by each district, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting its results fairly and accurately. But they are required by law to report them.
