Hillsborough Schools Recognized As Top For Music Education For 6 Years In A Row
The Music Department received the Best Communities for Music Education award from the National Association of Music Merchants.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — For the sixth year in a row, the Hillsborough Township Public Schools has been recognized as one of the "Best Communities for Music Education" by The National Association of Music Merchants(NAMM) Foundation for 2026.
The school district said it was "beyond thrilled" with the recognition.
"This marks our SIXTH year in a row receiving this prestigious honor, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students, teachers, and the entire community that keeps the music playing. From the first notes in elementary school to our award-winning high school ensembles, music is truly the heartbeat of our district," said the district.

The NAMM Foundation announced the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education school district recipients on April 6.
"Now in its 27th year, the award recognizes schools and districts nationwide for their leadership in expanding equitable access to music education," according to NAMM.

The NAMM Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Association of Music Merchants, the global trade association for the music products industry.
To qualify for this distinction, Hillsborough completed an in-depth survey covering program funding, student participation, music instruction time, facilities, and community involvement. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by the arts education research firm WolfBrown.
The district also thanked its "dedicated music educators who inspire our students every day, our talented students for their incredible hard work, and our parents and community members for your unwavering support of the arts."
"Here’s to six years of excellence and many more to come," said the Hillsborough school district.
