"Jack has been a major contributor to the Hillsborough High School athletic program for many years," said Superintendent Michael Volpe.
Years ago during the construction of the pole barn, Van Cleef served as a general contractor as well as scheduled and paid for the services of subcontractors, said Volpe.

"Additionally he not only donated a significant amount of funds to the project but also donated his time by working on it himself," said Volpe.
Volpe said the district is planning on doing something more formal as a celebration in the future when a sign is constructed and put on the building.
The sign honoring Van Cleef's work for the building was donated by the Raiders Touchdown Association.
