Hillsborough Older Adult Resource Fair Coming To Municipal Complex

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township's Social Services Department will host its Second Annual Older Adult Resource Fair on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hillsborough Township Municipal Complex, 379 South Branch Road.

The free event is open to Hillsborough residents and their families.

The fair is designed to connect local seniors and family members with service providers, information and support in one place.

According to the township, attendees will be able to get help and guidance on legal, financial and insurance planning, along with information on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

The event will also include providers and resources focused on home care, senior living and assisted living options, health and wellness programs, and local government services, including Veterans Services.

In addition, the fair will feature information on leisure, fitness, technology and community recreation opportunities for older adults.

A featured part of this year's event is the Five Wishes Workshop, which will be presented by one of the fair's partner organizations.

According to the township, the interactive session is intended to help adults create a legally valid advance care directive by guiding seniors and caregivers through medical, emotional and spiritual preferences before a health crisis occurs.

Mayor Catherine Payne said the fair is meant to make important services easier to reach for older residents and the people who help care for them.

"Our goal is to ensure Hillsborough's older adults and their families have direct, easy access to the resources they need to thrive," Payne said.

She said the process of sorting through care, planning and benefits can be difficult for families.

"Navigating senior care, legal planning, and health benefits can feel overwhelming. By bringing these experts and services together under one roof, we are empowering our residents to make informed decisions that promote independence, peace of mind, and a high quality of life," Payne said.
