Hillsborough Student Earns 2023 College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Hillsborough High School student has earned the prestigious college-sponsored merit scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Competition for 2023, the organization announced.

Saikalyan Jogannagari received a National Merit Perdue University Scholarship. Jogannagari plans to study computer science at the university next fall.

Jogannagari is among more than 7,140 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Officials at each of the sponsored colleges selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.

The chosen students will be awarded between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

An additional group of Scholars will be announced in July.
