Hillsborough Student Honored For Writing 'Exceptional Essay'
Vibhu Datta was named a finalist in the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post 8371 Patriot's Pen Scholarship Essay Contest.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Middle School student Vibhu Datta was honored by the Board of Education(BOE) for being named a finalist in the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post 8371 Patriot’s Pen Scholarship Essay Contest.
Board President Paul Marini read a proclamation honoring Datta at the Feb. 24 meeting.
This year's Patriot’s Pen theme, "How are You Inspired by America?", challenged students to articulate their patriotic views in a compelling essay.

"Vibhu Datta, a student of Hillsborough Middle School, submitted an exceptional essay that demonstrated insightful reflection and a profound understanding of the contest theme," according to the proclamation.
Vibhu's essay was selected as the best entry out of students by the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post 8371, earning him the distinction of local finalist.

"Vibhu did a great job on the essay," said a VFW member at the BOE meeting. "It entails all sixth, seventh, and eighth graders from the Montgomery area, the Hillsborough are, and the Branchburg area, and he was a finalist, which says a lot."
"Vibhu’s accomplishment reflects his dedication to academic excellence, his thoughtful engagement with American ideals, and his ability to express his views with clarity and conviction," according to the proclamation.
