Hillsborough Students Honored Veterans With Celebration

As part of the celebration, 47 veterans including a World War II veteran were invited to Triangle Elementary School​ to be honored.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Triangle Elementary School in Hillsborough held its 10th annual Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 12.

As part of the celebration, 47 veterans including a World War II veteran were invited to Triangle Elementary School to be honored. This year’s ceremony included performances by the Hillsborough Middle School band, Hillsborough High School chorale, and the Triangle School student body.

Highlights of the annual assembly include recognition of each of the military branches and the members in attendance, a vocal performance by Triangle School students, the playing of Taps, a moment of silence honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, a breakfast reception, and visits to classrooms throughout the school.

Hillsborough Mayor Gloria McCauley and Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker attended the
anniversary ceremony and helped welcome the school’s honored guests as well as hand out
letters of recognition.

“Triangle staff members work so hard to make this a special day for the veterans and a learning
experience for the students,” stated Barbara Golden, Acting Principal of Triangle Elementary
School. “It is wonderful to see the deep appreciation that our students express for the sacrifices
that these brave men and women have given for our country and our freedoms.”
