The Hillsborough Youth Wrestling program hit the mats this weekend with the Varsity team earning two victories in Central Jersey League action. The Raiders opened its season with a dominant performance over visiting New Providence winning 71-18 on Saturday morning. Evan Karolewski, Joe Witcoski, AJ Johnson, and Vinnie Aboosamara (Captain) all won by pinning their opponents while Cole Psemeneki (Captain) also won by a score of 15-0.
The Varsity Raiders delivered another strong effort on Sunday as they took on the Woodbridge Bearcats for their second bout in two days. Chris Spinelli got the team off to a great start gutting out a 9-7 overtime win at the 53 lb. weight class. Karolewski, Witcoski, Johnson, Cameron Hill and Nick Klementowicz all recorded pins for the Raiders. Cole Psemeneki also picked up his second win of the season with a hard fought 9-2 decision in his bout. The Raiders closed out the Bearcats with a final score of 61-18 to go to 2-0 in the Central Jersey League.

Many wrestlers in the program also competed in exhibition matches during the day. Ryan Spinelli, John Peyton Rhodes, Logan McDermid, Anthony Sowinski, Brian Quabeck, Brett Lockburner, Brian O’Kane, Tyler Oram, Jimmy Marvits, and Adam Schebece all competed hard and represented the Raider Nation well.
