The Hillsborough Middle School and the HMS Home & School Association have partnered to purchase and install bleachers for the HMS gym.

This gym is constantly being used; every day, all day by the physical education teachers and their students, after school for HMS girls and boys sports, and at night for Hillsborough community recreational teams.

HSA fundraisers in the Hillsborough community and with HMS parents throughout the 2010-2012 school years such as the HMS/ARIS Discount Card, the Friend Finder, Gertrude Hawk candy sales, the annual Raffle, Boxtops/Labels for Education and the BookFairs paid for the bleachers.

Also, Principal Joseph Trybulski procured additional funds to paint the gym and refinish the floors.

"The gym is a new gym now and brings wonderful energy to the Hillsborough Middle School," Vice Principal John Ciccarone said. Ciccarone conducted the request for proposals with venders and oversaw the installation of the bleachers.

Before the bleachers were installed, parents, fans and students sat on folding chairs or the floor during programs and physical education classes. The new bleachers not only save time for set-up, but they have doubled the seating capacity for events in the gym affording greater opportunity for more fans to support our student athletes.

The HMS leadership team and faculty continues to partner with parents including the HSA to fund assemblies and projects not typically funded by existing budgets.
