Icy Roads Cause Four Car Crash On Montgomery Bridge

A Hillsborough local and two Belle Mead locals were also arrested for Marijuana possession, according to the police blotter.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Icy road conditions caused a four-car collision on the Route 518 bridge just east of Cherry Hill Road in Montgomery.

On Dec. 29, a Lambertville resident driving eastbound slid on the icy roadway and struck a Lingston resident driving westbound, Montgomery Police reported.

A Princeton resident who was travelling west on Route 518 came upon the crash and stopped to contact the police department. While stopped on the shoulder of the roadway, her vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle operated by a San Bruno, a California resident, police reported.

Montgomery EMS transported the Princeton resident to University Medical Center Princeton at Plainsboro. The other drivers were all treated at the scene.

On Dec. 27: Officer Ryan Gray conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle being operated by Laquan Rhym-Tate, 19, of Hillsborough for inoperable brake lights. During the course of the stop, Officer Gray determined that Rhym-Tate was in possession of marijuana. Rhym-Tate was arrested and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and issued motor vehicle summonses for inoperable lights, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court.

On Saturday Dec. 31, at 7:40 a.m.: Montgomery Police responded to Route 601, south of Sunset Road, for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle into a utility pole. Police investigation determined Sai Shai, 43, of Hopewell was operating a Toyota southbound on Route 601. Shai reported he fell asleep while driving and his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and impacted a utility pole head on. Shai refused medical attention at the scene and reported no injuries. His vehicle was towed from the scene and he was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving. Shai is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court.

On Jan. 2, 2017: Officer Jason Larsen arrested Paul Brenneman, 22, and Leah Brenneman, 19, both of Belle Mead, for possession of marijuana. Officer Larsen found both individuals in a vehicle in the Mill Pond Park after the park was closed. Both individuals were transported to MTPD HQ for processing. Paul Brenneman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Leah Brenneman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Both were released and are scheduled to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court.
