Icy Weather Cancels After-School Activities In Hillsborough

The cancellation is in effect for Friday and Saturday at Hillsborough Township Schools.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — All after-school activities are canceled in Hillsborough on Friday and Saturday due to expected inclement weather and icy road conditions.

Catholic Charities will run on a normal schedule Friday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Somerset County from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of a light glaze, according to the National Weather Forecast.

This will create very slippery sidewalks, roads, and especially bridges and overpasses are possible.

Friday: Periods of rain before 2 p.m., then freezing rain likely between 2 and 5 p.m., then a chance of freezing rain and sleet after 5 p.m. Temperature falling to around 31 by 5 p.m. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 28. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 12. Northwest wind around 5 mph.Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.
