James Ruh, Jr. Will Run For Hillsborough Committee In 2023 Election

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Republican James Ruh Jr. announced he is running for a full three-year term on the Hillsborough Township Committee in November.

During the Wednesday night Reorganization meeting, Ruh Jr. shared his intentions to continue his tenure on the committee.

"I want to thank the people of Hillsborough for the opportunity... I had a little bit of a different travel to get here where I was not elected. I do intend to run for election after this year is over. I do want to make a long haul of this," said Ruh Jr.

Ruh Jr., a 30-plus-year resident of the Township and former Board of Education member, was selected on Dec. 2 to fill the unexpired term of Janine Erickson - who resigned for "personal life obligations."

He officially took the oath of office to serve on the Committee during the Dec. 13 meeting. The term he is filling is set to expire at the end of 2023.

To continue serving, Ruh, Jr. needs to be elected in November to a full three-year term.

"I have a steep, uphill learning curve. I am ready to go to work and serve the people of Hillsborough. Thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to proving myself to everybody," said Ruh, Jr.

Ruh, Jr. previously had been serving on the Hillsborough Township Board of Education since May 2022 filling a seat left open after Jason Albanese resigned abruptly on Feb. 17, 2022 after serving less than two months.

Ruh, Jr. is a Hillsborough High School graduate along with his wife. They have three children also in the Hillsborough Township School District.
