RARITAN DIVISION

Hillsborough Varsity Gold (Burke) vs. Pope John Varsity Gold:Won 38-0
The Hillsborough Varsity Gold traveled to Pope John Saturday morning for what was meant to be a scrimmage. Pope John had more than a scrimmage on their mind. They were looking to avenge the 28-0 loss from a few weeks ago, in Hillsborough. In the first half, they matched the Raiders play for play with only a 35-yard touchdown pass from Jaime Mazuera to Sal Volpe creating the 8-0 difference.
After an “inspiring” and “motivational” halftime speech by Hillsborough assistant coach Jake Patrick, the Raiders got back to business. They not only kept Pope John off the scoreboard in the second half, but put 30 points of their own in route to a 38-0 win. Ryan Vierbuchen got Boro going in the second half as he intercepted a pass and returned it 50 yards setting up a Thomas Amankwaa touchdown on a run off tackle. After forcing a quick punt, the Raiders got right back to work with Andrew Santa Barbara scoring on their first play of the drive. Mazuera connected on the extra point giving Boro 22-0 lead. The defense forced a turnover on downs after Pope John threw three straight incompletions. With the ball back, they quickly converted with AJ Johnson breaking loose for 30-yard touchdown. Hillsborough was rolling now and after another punt by Pope John, Adam Movshin ran up the middle for a touchdown to cap off the scoring for the Raiders.
The Junior Raiders wrap up their regular season next Saturday night with a home game versus Bridgewater. From there they will enjoy a bye week before the playoffs start and their quest for another championship continues.

Hillsborough Patriot JV Gold (Riccardi) vs. Pope John JV Gold: Won
This past Saturday, the Jr. Raiders JV Gold team traveled to Sparta for an early morning rematch against the Pope John Jr. Lions. The Jr. Lions were a tough opponent, but the Raiders’ relentless offense and impenetrable defense proved too much as the Raiders marched to a 24-0 victory. The Raider offense, led by quarterback Tyler Van Cleef, was spurned to victory by a big day from Cynthia Akosua. Akosua carried the ball 5 times for a total of 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. Akosua also caught two passes from Van Cleef for a total of 16 yards. Austin Quandt followed up Akosua’s performance with 2 carries for a total of 58 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Raider defense shined once again as they held the Jr. Lions to a shutout. Defensive tackle Logan McGann had an all-star performance, tallying 8 tackles, including 1 for loss, and a forced fumble. Quandt, at defensive end, shined on both sides of the ball this week; he recorded 3 tackles, 1 sack and 1 for loss, along with 2 fumble recoveries and a blocked punt. Jonathan Lobelo and Pierce Skala contributed 4 tackles each. Lobelo also blocked a Punt, while Skala was responsible for a forced fumble. Next Saturday, the Raiders will return home for their final regular season game against the Bridgewater Jr. Panthers.

Mini Chix (K-2)

Thinking to their future years of field hockey, they are all going to be forces to be reckoned with! Even our “Little” coaches were impressed by the skill levels of the minis and look forward to watching them move up the ranks of Jr Raiders Field Hockey!
Milena Zaranski is proving to be a powerhouse behind the stock, Addison Daisey shoes concentrated focus on her plays and Julia Fidziukiewicz proves that every week her field hockey skills get better and better! Anna Stokes is always trying her best on the field, continuing to improve her stick skills! Taylor Thiele and Sadie Strandberg fight hard on the field to maintain control of the ball!
Great job girls and THANK YOU to our tremendous coaches: Erika Fedo, Kristin Doyal and Chrissy Strandberg as well as our awesome Jr Coaches: Mack Kiernan, Lauren and Alexander and Katie Kozimbo!
The time all of you take helping to teach each and every one of our minis is commendable!

Little Stix Maroon (3-4) vs North Hunterdon 24-4

Little Stix Maroon (3/4) faced off against North Hunterdon 24-4 team on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for their final home game of the season.
Both teams played well ending in a 0-0 tie which made for a very exciting game to watch, with the girls showing great skills with passing and teamwork.

The Defense team fought hard to keep the score at 0. Defenders Devin Redziniak and Milan Citarella blocked multiple goals, and the Middie's came to action to help defend the net.

Middie's Taelyn Fedo and Vicky Byra showed great passing skills; switching the ball across the field to change direction and maneuver the ball out of the way of their opponent.
Jane Rodrigues as center fought to score, with Kiara Jones and Anna Antonelli providing support as wings. The girls were great at passing to each other and communicating.
In the last quarter, Bella Ruh and Morghan DiGanci as Middies worked tirelessly at getting the ball back to their side of the field and Center Madelynn Taras with the support of her wings Rebekah Redlich and Megan Vogt really tried to get that last shot on goal before the game had ended.
Overall, Hillsborough defense played as a solid unit defending their net, and similarly the offense generated numerous scoring opportunities that N. Hunterdon was able to block.
The team is looking forward to our last game next Sunday against North Hunterdon 24-5 and hopefully finishing the season with a win.

Little Stix Gold (3-4) vs Lebanon 24-1
Little Stix Gold fought hard to keep the game tight, sadly losing 2-1 against fierce competitor Lebanon 24-1
Our wings in this game did a phenomenal job! Paige Romano was key in the alley breakaways, keeping a quick pace, with her stick on the ball.
Miranda Trevino kept her position skills on the post, while Laura Weintraub worked with Paige to bring the ball closer into the circle.
Alexis Shumaker showed great defensive skills in the mid-field position and pushed the ball out of the circle several times. Brianna Gibson as mid-field did a great job as well and knew to back up Alexis as they worked well together on the field.
Kaylin Agaman had a great support team and also worked to push the ball out of the circle.
Madisyn Freeman and Sydney Russo as mid-fielders also worked well with Samantha Dandy as defense to communicate with each other to keep the ball out of the circle as they tried to push the ball up to our offensive center Peyton Wallace.
Amelia Patterson and Jessica McKelvey really showed off their stick skills and attack skills and proved they are not afraid to get to the ball!
Sara Thompson did a great job giving us our goal for the game with her fast pace and quick thinking!
Great playing girls! Little Stix Gold looks forward to their season closer against North Hunterdon next Sunday!

Junior Stix Maroon (5-6) vs Forks 56-2
The Junior Stix Maroon Raiders faced off against the number one team in the NJPA League on a beautiful summer-like Sunday at Woodfield Park. Forks, out of Easton PA, jumped out to an early 2 goal lead and all indications were that it was going to be a long day for the Maroon Raiders. Not the case.
Team veterans Hailey Vogt and Lexi Kobryn were determined to play hard and fight for the respect of their opponent. These mid-fielders were aggressive and started charging forward with quick re-starts and firm long hits that allowed the offense to change field position. By the middle of the first half, the play started to tilt toward the Maroon Raiders offensive side of the field. Kaylee D'Avanzoplayed a very energetic center position and chased and tackled the ball all over the field. Once again Kate Rzeczkowski and Sophia Jordan play fast and smart and helped stifle the division leaders.
Meghan Cain was called on to wear the big gear for the second time this season, and she stepped up in a big way. Meghan made some crucial saves late in the first half and early in the second to keep the score only 0-2. Hannah Herterichplay an active and engaging mid-field position and she fit into this position

nicely. Hannah has a knack for being in the right position at both ends of the field. Mackenzie McLaughlin was rock solid wherever she was asked to play today as well. She plays strong offense and a very responsible sweeper defense.
Mackenzie was also involved with our Maroon Raider Play of the Game. Hailey picked up the ball just outside our defensive circle and dribbled and dodged her way into the offensive circle, a great run. Mackenzie was tracking the play with Kate and Sophia. A shot was unleashed and the rebound ended up on Sophia's stick. The ball "walked the goal-line", as Kate said, as Sophia could not find the proper angle to guide the ball into the gaping net. This chance along with three other that did not find pay-dirt meant it was not going to be the Maroon Raiders day.
The final score was Forks 4, Maroon Raiders 0. The Maroon Raiders have been on the doorstep many times this season, and the floodgates are going to open at the season closing tournament next Sunday in Easton, PA. This underdog is looking to play spoiler for sure.

Junior Stix Gold (5-6) vs Junior Stix Maroon (5-6)
Team Gold put up a strong fight against Washington today! Team Gold had multiple shots on goal in the first half but couldn't get the ball in the net. Wing Kerry Lydon held strong bringing the ball
Up the wing and driving into the circle! Midfielder Lily Hand played great defense and helped keep the score to 0-2 for the first half.

Team Gold started strong in the second half! On a corner Izzy Jaucian assisted Brooklyn Citarella goal to rally 2-1!!! Washington then followed with 2 More goals to end the game 4-1.
Team Gold is looking forward to a great tournament next weekend!!

Junior Stix White (5-6) vs Franklin 56-3
Junior Stix White lost 2-0 to Franklin on Sunday. White was able to hold Franklin to only 1 goal in each half despite playing under heavy offensive pressure throughout the game. White’s defense was led by Chiara Sasso in goal who kept the game close with several great kick saves along with defensive backs Charlotte Maloney and Maia Minakas. Key defensive plays by forwards Autumn Pina and Emma Kelner, dropping back to help, also helped hold back the skilled Franklin offense. White team looks forward to closing out the season with a strong showing in next weekend’s league tournament.
