‘Just One Rose Can Make Someone Happy’

While some people view flowers as a luxury, to many they continue to be an important part of life.

For almost 30 years, B & C Hillsborough Florist has been helping customers acknowledge those important parts of life, whether it is a wedding, a funeral, a prom or any other special occasions.

“Flowers brighten up someone’s day. The flowers may die but the memory of someone sending flowers or receiving flowers doesn’t,” noted shop manager Carly Yurasek, a Manville resident who began her career at B & C while still in high school and returned after college.

B & C has been located in Nelson’s Corner since the mall opened almost 30 years ago. Current owner Ronald Gothier has been in the business “since he was a kid,”

In a tough economy where customers can buy flowers at a variety of other types of stores, Yurasek attributes B & C’s longevity to several factors.

“We have a good relationship with our customers and the community,” she noted. “We have customers who have come to us for prom corsages and now we are doing their wedding flowers and even baby shower flowers.”

Plus, she noted, the shop regularly donates to community events.

Also contributing is the staff’s professional design skills, attention to detail and the use of fresh, high-quality flowers—all offered at reasonable prices.

“Our dedicated staff can make any occasion memorable with a creative arrangement made from our wide assortment of fresh flowers. Our many years of experience make it easy and stress-free for customers and brides ordering flowers from us," Gothier said.

“We put a lot of care into our arrangements. It’s quality vs. quantity,” Yurasek added, noting that the staff will call customers if the types of flowers they want are not available so there are no surprises upon delivery.

“We can usually get any flowers any time by ordering them from another part of the world, if necessary,” Yurasek said, pointing out that B & C’s selection includes everything from local wildflowers and flowers from Holland to tropical varieties. For those with allergies, the staff can even recommend flowers that have no fragrance.

In addition to hand-arranged bouquets and gift baskets, B & C also features a large selection of plants, dish gardens, fruit baskets, balloons and accompanying gifts (such as stuffed animals). Artificial arrangements are also available.

The experienced staff is always available to help customers make their choices, whether it is picking a house-warming gift, selecting reasonable centerpieces for an anniversary party or preparing a complete wedding package.
