Submitted by Lisa Nisivoccia
As a former Township Committee member, it is my pleasure to endorse my
capable successor, Committeewoman Gloria McCauley, and her energetic running
mate, Mayor Doug Tomson, for a truly well-deserved re-election to Township
Committee on November 4th.
Committeewoman McCauley has championed our philosophy of fiscal
responsibility and community service, and her drive for sustainability led
to the installation of solar panels and a new HVAC system, along with a new
roof, for the municipal building - “going green”, making necessary repairs
and saving money all at the same time. Visitors to the municipal building
can look at the live display of the electrical output of those solar panels,
and see the money saved for taxpayers each day.
Mayor Tomson, with a young family, nevertheless finds the time and energy to
be simply everywhere - representing the Township Committee at nearly every
public occasion with a smile, an open mind, and an open line of
communication. Following the policy of previous Republican mayors, he has
held the line on spending and taxes, and our municipal budget is once again
below its 2008 level.
Both Committeewoman McCauley and Mayor Tomson are committed to promoting
local business growth, and our local economy. Together with Deputy Mayor
Greg Burchette and the rest of the Township Committee, they instituted the
“Shop Hillsborough” program to give taxpayers a break while growing local
business revenues. According to the recent Beacon headlines, the program is
already a hit.
Gloria McCauley and Doug Tomson have always put the taxpayers’ interests
first and foremost, and have governed with class and good grace. They have
earned my endorsement, and the votes of our residents, on November 4th.
Sincerely,
Lisa Nisivoccia
Former Deputy Mayor
