Man Allegedly Firing Shots Into The Air In Franklin, Arrested

A fully-loaded revolver, and several spent shell casings, were found on the Franklin man's waistband, police reported.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Franklin man was arrested and charged after a caller reported he was shooting a gun into the air.

On Oct. 4 at 11:50 a.m. a 911 caller reported a man was standing near a vehicle and firing a handgun into the air in the area of Hamilton Street near the Douglas Gardens Apartments in Franklin Township.

Police responded and found Rashan M. McMillan, 44, who fit the description given by the caller and arrested him. A fully-loaded revolver and several spent shell casings were recovered from McMillan’s waistband, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

McMillian was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, fourth-degree possession of a defaced firearm and second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms.

After processing, he was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
