Man Dies After Falling 30 Feet Off Somerset County Roof

Breaking: Peter Martorana, 39, of Point Pleasant was found at the base of the building in Franklin Township unconscious and unresponsive.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Point Pleasant man died from his injuries after falling 30 feet off of a roof in Franklin Township on Tuesday morning.

A 911 call reporting the industrial accident at 125 Claremont Road in Franklin was reported at 7:04 a.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, Franklin Township Police officers reported finding Peter Martorana, 39, of Point Pleasant at the base of the building unconscious and unresponsive.

Officers initiated lifesaving efforts until EMS personnel arrived on scene and took over care, police reported.

It was learned that Martorana was working on the roof and fell approximately 30 feet to the ground. He was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, police reported.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was contacted and responded to the scene. Work was stopped on the site while OSHA representatives conducted their investigation.
