Man ID'd In Fatal Route 206 Crash With Delivery Truck In Somerset County

Authorities have released the identity of the man who reportedly hit the back of a 2019 International delivery truck on Route 206 Wednesday.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A Skillman man was identified as the driver killed in a crash with a delivery truck on Route 206 in Montgomery on Wednesday.

Charles Horn, 61, of Skillman, was identified as the victim of the fatal motor vehicle crash, said Montgomery Township Police Lt. Jason Larsen.

Visitation for Horn is being held on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Route 206, Hillsborough Township. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo, 47 Skillman Rd., Skillman.

On Feb. 19 at around 10 a.m., 911 calls reported a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Route 206 North in front of the Nassau Tennis Club. Read More: Man Killed In Route 206 Crash With Delivery Truck In Somerset County

A 2017 Subaru being driven by Horn hit the rear of a 2019 International delivery truck that was being driven by a 44-year-old man from Burlington, according to a preliminary scene investigation.

Horn had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was later pronounced dead, said Larsen.

The driver of the truck was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither of the vehicles had passengers.

The circumstances of the crash are being investigated by the Montgomery Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team. No summons have been issued at this time.

The highway was closed to traffic for around three hours during the scene investigation.

Emergency personnel from Montgomery Township EMS, Montgomery Fire Companies #1 and #2, NJDOT/NJSP Incident Management Response Team and Robert Wood Johnson Medics helped at the scene.
