Man Shot In Somerset County Under Investigation

A man was found outside a Dewald Avenue residence, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg last night: prosecutor.

SOMERSET, NJ — Police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured from a gun shot wound to his leg lying outside a home in the Somerset section of Franklin Township on Tuesday night, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson announced.

Gunshots were reported by multiple 911 calls around 7:44 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the area of Dewald Avenue. Responding officers found a 31-year-old male outside a Dewald Avenue home, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg, police reported.

Officers provided medical aid to the victim, who was then transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

The investigation thus far has revealed that this was an isolated incident and the victim was the intended target.
