SOMERVILLE, NJ — Somerset County residents will be coming together to protest gun violence at a March for Our Lives rally in Somerville on Saturday.

The event organized by Hillsborough resident Isabel Dutta is part of the nationwide March for Our Lives events on June 11 demanding action against gun violence.

"I decided to organize the Somerville march because there were no marches in close proximity to me. I did not want to sit home that day when I knew people across the country would be rallying together on this issue," said Dutta.

"While gun control laws in New Jersey are overall strict and New Jersey rarely faces mass shootings today, it is unacceptable that gun violence is taking place in our country in other states," said Dutta. "With this march, I hope to show solidarity to those affected by gun violence nationwide as well as pressure our federal lawmakers representing New Jersey to take action by passing and enacting legislation on this topic."
